All That I’ve Got
This is the pinnacle early 2000’s alt emo music video. The true love for this track and visuals for it lie in the YouTube comments in relation to a singular lyric from the song- “I’ll be just fine, pretending I’m not”. Anyone that was hip to The Used when this music video dropped still listens to it, even in their 30’s.

This was my go-to crying song in grade 5, I thought the lyrics were “I’ll be just fine pretending I’m nine” and I was like “Bro, I’m 9, this guy gets me.”
The Taste of Ink
“The Taste of Ink” was the debut single for The Used. There is no argument this is the band’s most popular track and most popular video. The visuals for this song are the quintessential cutting from a story of adolescence and angst to the band playing on stage. It doesn’t get too much more early 2000’s than this.
Buried Myself Alive
“Buried Myself Alive” redefined what emo meant when talking about music and paved the way for so many more bands to come. This song perfectly described the feelings of isolation and was not afraid to show just how prevalent mental illness and depression are in developing youth and society overall. This was the beginning for a lot of people to feel okay talking about it and have it be a normalized part of life.
Numb
“Numb” is a newer track from The Used and follows a different sort of approach to visual connection to the track. Scrolling lyrics and visceral visuals are present on screen but the lack of narrative and presence from the band is prevalent. Nevertheless, fans old and new have positive feedback and still connect with the material just as they did with older works despite the change in format.
I Caught Fire
A track near and dear to a lot of our hearts. Missed the MTV music craze by just a little bit but feels so familiar in form and format. A boy and a girl narrative with cut to’s of the band playing. Emo kids still eat their hearts out over this to this day. Some of us have this sitting in our vinyl collections, perhaps.
