Foxing returns with their self-titled album, marking their fifth venture and new form with
rich textures and tones not yet seen in their previous work. Foxing may not have the
hooks/lyrics that are as catchy as past albums but the sound is a definitive artist maturation. Their previous album, Draw Down the Moon (2021), was a worthy work for Foxing and had their obvious glean to it but this new album is the the start line for the peak of the group. “Foxing” commands the attention of longtime fans and new fans and creates the need for multiple listening's.
The most impressive track and the one that is the perfect encapsulation of the tone and
soul of this album is the track “Greyhound”, a stellar eight minute rollercoaster. The music video
for this track was a very cheeky take on the art form with an interesting backstory. The video
was shot on location at the press release for the album. They are sitting up front in a room full of
chairs, only, instead of them being filled with press, they are empty. The video is just the band
listening to the song in silence with mostly blank faces.
Foxing is an album where sounds of synth can be heard to the screamed vocals of Conor
Murphy. Foxing has already commanded the emo/art rock genre defiantly and their new work is an even bigger emblem of this fact. While not a full departure from previous sound, the progression in content and production keep Foxing ahead of the game.
