Rock - Two Door Cinema Club
Hailing from Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club was formed in 2007 by members: Alex Trimble (vocals, rhythm guitar, beats, synths), Sam Halliday (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Kevin Baird (bass, synths, backing vocals). After 3 years, they released their debut album, Tourist History (2010). This album included the singles “What You Know”, “Something Good Can Work”, and “I Can Talk”. TDCC released their next album, Beacon, in 2012. Beacon featured 4 singles: “Sleep Alone”, “Sun”, “Next Year”, and “Handshake”. Their 3rd studio album, Gameshow, was released in 2016. Gameshow included “Are We Ready? (Wreck)”, “Bad Decisions”, and “Gameshow”. TDCC is currently working on their next album but hasn’t provided a release date.
Folk - The Lorax
Charlie Fink is best known for fronting Noah and the Whale, a British Indie-rock band. Fink is responsible for writing and composing their first 3 albums. He was with Noah and the Whale from 2006 until 2015. Since their split, Fink has been composing music for theatre productions, such as The Lorax, and the film A Street Cat Named Bob (2016.) In 2017, he released his first solo album, Cover My Tracks. His album featured 3 singles: “Firecracker”, “Anywhere You’re Going Is on My Way”, and “I Was Born to Be a Cowboy”.
Pop - Dean Lewis
Dean Lewis is fairly new to the music scene. He released his first EP, Same Kind of Different, in April 2017. The EP featured most of his singles: “Waves”, “Need You Now”, “Lose My Mind”, and “Chemicals”. “Waves” was nominated for 7 awards, including Best Pop Release, Breakthrough Artist, and Song of the Year. He just released his newest single, “Be Alright”, in June 2018. “Be Alright” was also nominated for 5 awards and won Best Video. Lewis’ debut studio album is expected to be released in 2019, but there is no release date yet.
R&B - Anna Wise
Anna Wise began her music career with the bands Sonnymoon, Built to Fade, and CunninLynguists, but she is most known for her collaborations with Kendrick Lamar. Since 2012, she has been featured in 11 of his tracks, and won a Grammy for their song “These Walls” (2015). Some of their other songs are “Real” (2012), PRIDE. (2017), and Institutionalized (2015). She has also released 2 solo studio albums, The Feminine: Act I (2016), and The Feminine: Act II (2017).
Electronic - Empire of the Sun
Empire of the Sun are an Australian duo from Sydney. Members Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore formed the band in 2007. They released their debut album, Walking on a Dream (2008). The album featured their singles “Walking on a Dream”, We Are the People”, and “Standing on the Shore”. These singles were all chart topping, and the album won 7 of the 11 awards it was nominated for. Their next album, Ice on the Dune (2013) was almost as successful as their first, with 4 award nominations. The album included their singles “Alive”, “DNA”, and “Celebrate”. They released their 3rd studio album, Two Vines, in 2016. It featured their singles “High and Low”, “To Her Door”, and “Way to Go”. They just released their newest single “On Our Way Home” and are working on a 4th studio album.
