Today, David Shaw of The Revivalists is releasing two new solo singles, "Shaken" and "Promised Land". Check out our thoughts on both tracks!
"Shaken" - "Shaken" and it's accompanying music video provide a visceral examination of when individuals feel that they are "different" from others. The video also provides a gut wrenching look at bullying amongst youth. The song's message is a positive one though and pushes the notion that what you have to offer as an individual is worth it. Additionally, the song relays the message that your unique self can drive your own success in life and that you don't need to change who you are. Take a listen to the song here!
"Promised Land" - On "Promised Land" Shaw examines systemic inequality, especially when it comes to systemic racism and the inherent disparities that take place along socioeconomic lines. While "Promised Land" is very much a song for our current political moment, it's also a song that has a supportive message at heart. It alludes that freedom can only be great when everyone gets the opportunity to experience it. Take a listen to the track here!
Both of these tracks are absolutely fantastic so be sure to check out the video for "Shaken" and give both songs a listen! Rating - 5/5
