Future Islands brought their trademark energy to Denver’s Mission Ballroom on Tuesday, September 24th. I hadn’t seen them since 2014 at All Things Go’s first year in DC, and I was excited to circle back to one of my nostalgic alt favorites. From the moment the band took the stage, the energy was infectious. Dedicated fans packed the venue, and the audience felt like one big family.
The setlist balanced fan favorites and fresh material perfectly, from classics like Seasons to new tracks like The Tower, all of which had the crowd singing along. The stage setup complemented their performance, adding depth without overshadowing the heart of the show.
One of the most touching moments was when lead singer Samuel Herring reminisced about the band’s early days, sharing how he once lived in a one-bedroom apartment with eight others. “I’m glad I can capture these moments, these feelings, and share them with you,” he said, a line that seemed to sum up the night. It was a testament to the band's journey and their commitment to music as a medium for growth and connection. Denver’s stop on this tour felt less like a concert and more like a shared experience, leaving fans with memories that will linger long after the music fades.
