Album Review - LANY: GG BB XX (September 3, 2021)
LANY are back with their third release GG BB XX, which follows up their release from last year mama's boy. So far, LANY have released five singles from this release, including "I Quit Drinking" a collaboration with country music superstar Kelsea Ballerini, which they debuted at the CMT Awards show.
With GG BB XX, LANY have returned with their pop filled sound with catchy hooks and light beats. This album will serve as fodder for radio stations, as it's very accessible to a wide range of audiences. Though those that may prefer a more indie or alt sound may shy away from this bright of a pop sound.
GG BB XX is a sugary sweet album full of songs that will get play on the radio. In turn, LANY will continue to build on a strong brand that they have established for themselves. Is it particularly alt or indie? No. Just because it leans closer to pop than it does to alt, isn't a bad thing. It's a great album to throw on and bop to.
