Advance Review - Lost & Faded: 'Time'

Advance Review - Lost & Faded: Time (February 20, 2020)

Corpus Christi's own Lost & Faded are back with a brand new EP Time that drops

everywhere tomorrow! Time shows a continued growth for the Texas band, as they again display an a melodic alt-rock sound that is all their own. I would be remiss if I didn't start with Mitch Hackleman's distinct vocal that just doesn't sound like anything else out there. It's got a grit and a bite to it that pairs perfectly with the guitar work of Rene Vela. The rhythm section of Juan Paulo Benavides (bass) and Mykey Garcia (drums) set the perfect foundation for everything else to flourish.

The first three songs, "Take Your Time", "Wake Me Up", and "Out of Synch" have some get up to them that instantly make you want to move. "Take Your Time" immediately goes for it, kicking the door in to start the EP. Garcia's drums take center stage in the rhythm here. They are dynamic and driving, absolutely perfect. The EP ends with an acoustic version of "Set the Sails". With so many melodically dynamic tracks preceding it, the slowed down melody we get here is a nice change of pace. It also serves as the perfect opportunity for Hackleman to show of his powerful vocal abilities.

When it comes down to it, Lost & Faded continue to release great music. If you're remotely into alt-rock that has hints of punk to it, you'd absolutely love this band. Right now Lost & Faded have been carving out a name for themselves in the Coastal Bend of South Texas. However, it won't be long until they're breaching out farther.
