Artist Spotlight - Daniela Andrade

We had the opportunity to interview alt-star Daniela Andrade! The Honduran-Canadian singer/songwriter has blown it up on streaming services with her music averaging over 2 million listeners a month. Her mixture of alt and folk-pop is a fantastic mix you'll be sure to dig. Check out what she had to say in our interview and check out her music!

1. How did you come to pursue music and how long have you been at it?

"I've been singing since I can remember and have known from a young age I love to do it. Because I've never been trained or taken classes, pursuing it as a career didn't become a real thought for me until my YouTube channel started to really take off when I was 17. After High School I knew I'd regret not trying to see where this could go. I saved up some money and quit my part time jobs when I was 19."

2. Could you walk us through your process of writing music?

"It varies but I'm in a phase right now where voice notes are a big part of my writing process. I save a thought, word I like, melody line that pops in my head and keep it to develop when I'm in the studio again."

3. What artists have inspired you in your career?

"Billie Holiday, Facundo Cabral, Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean."

4. Do you have any favorite music gear (guitars, amps, effects pedals, keyboards, etc.) that you love to use? If so, what’s the story on them?

"Laptop, RME Babyface Pro and my MIDI keyboard. They all fit in my backpack and I take them with me whenever I can. Being able to make music anywhere is really freeing."

5. Can you describe the vibe at your live shows? Also, what do you enjoy most about a venue when you do a show?

"On my last tour it was just me and my guitar, a really stripped down and intimate set. For the next tour

we are gonna add some band members which I'm really excited about. A good sound system is always key

for a smooth show!"

6. What is one thing that you want the public to know about your music?

"I figure myself out through it so it's always evolving with me." 7. Do you have any upcoming projects you would like fans to know about?

"Tamale just came out and website/merch are coming real soon too."
