We had the opportunity to interview Brooklyn five-piece Barrie! Barrie has a fun alt-pop sound that will be sure to grab a hold of you and not let go. The band is on the rise as their single "Tal Uno" is up to over 2,000,000 streams on Spotify! So check them out, but before you do that, check out what they had to say in our interview!

1. How did you come to pursue music and how long have you been at it?

Barrie Lindsay: "I grew up in a musical family, it was always around. I really got into it in high school, when they started putting Garageband on laptops."

2. Could you walk us through your process of writing music?

"It starts in a number of different ways, but as soon as I find a progression, riff, sound, or melody I like, I record it right away and loop it. I think it's all about making quick and decisive choices. It takes a while to get to the point where you trust your ear and gut enough to commit to the choices but once it's there, don't waffle or tinker forever. I usually just make one section at a time, layering and trying different combinations in loop."

3. What artists have inspired you in your career?

"Sufjan Stevens, Chrissie Hynde, Joni Mitchell, Chaz Bundick."

4. Do you have any favorite music gear (guitars, amps, effects pedals, keyboards, etc.) that you love to use? If so, what’s the story on them?

"I love my 1974 Fender Mustang. I bought it after I made my first real money from music when a TV show used my song. I was in the shop and the guy asked if my dad was buying it for me. Normally I wouldn't have said anything but I was pissed so I told him I was a musician and I was spending my own money I'd earned from making music. That was kind of a throwing down the gauntlet moment where it felt like had to make good on that boast."

5. Can you describe the vibe at your live shows? Also, what do you enjoy most about a venue when you do a show?

"We try to make the live shows feel super welcoming and inclusive. We just played Paris and the hospitality at French venues is unreal, they gave us fresh fish and risotto and good wine and fruit. It's usually a lot dodgier everywhere else, we appreciate you France."

6. What is one thing that you want the public to know about your music?

"I don't think there is anything to know, really. I guess just that it's made with love."

7. Do you have any upcoming projects you would like fans to know about?

"Check out my bandmates’ other projects: Sabine Holler, Is Tropical, Psymon Spine, Spurge Carter."
