Tokyo Police Club’s farewell tour stop in Denver on October 30th was nothing short of fantastic, with the band delivering an electrifying performance that left fans in high spirits. The crowd was treated to all the hits, but it wasn’t just the music that made the night memorable.

At one point, the pianist shared a hilarious and slightly unsettling story from the band’s early days. Recalling their first trip to Denver as scrawny 19-year-olds, he recounted how their Ontario parents had warned them to “watch out in Denver.” As the band wandered around, a stranger zigzagged toward them, his hand tucked inside his jacket, and asked, “Does anybody want a knife?” The pianist joked, “If you’ve got a knife in your jacket or you’re dressed like Beetlejuice,” (like the lead singer Dave Monks was that night), “you’re a scary bunch.” The crowd erupted in laughter, bonding with the band over this quirky slice of Denver lore.

As for the music, it was as energetic and tight as ever. From the opening notes to the final song, the band's chemistry was undeniable with smiles from ear to ear, and the crowd sang along to every word. Tokyo Police Club’s farewell tour is a reminder of just how much they’ve meant to their fans over the years. It was a bittersweet evening, but one that will be remembered fondly for a long time.
