Advance Review - Wolf Parade: Thin Mind (January 24, 2020) via Sub Pop

Thin Mind is a strong effort from Wolf Parade that contains a multitude of high energy bangers that evoke memories of more classic alt. Tracks like "Julia Take Your Man Home", "Forrest Green", and "The Static Age" (just to name a few) with their high energy synth work remind of 80's and early 90's alternative in the best way possible. While their sound may evoke comps to a time gone by. On Thin Mind, Wolf Parade also tap into a timeless aesthetic similar to that of icons like David Bowie (and we don't make that statement lightly, just listen to "Fall Into the Future").

Highly listenable, Thin Mind has the kind of synth work and percussion that moves you to the core. Trust us, try not dancing to these tracks on a dance floor. Wolf Parade land the ship with the guitar driven "Town Square". Vocalist Spencer Krug's vocals on this one are a callback to David Bowie and David Byrne. Especially in how effects are applied to the vocals themselves. Coming in at ten songs, Thin Mind may be on the shorter side, but that doesn't stop Wolf Parade from making a lasting impact with their synth infused indie stylings. Give this one a listen ASAP, you won't be disappointed.
