We chatted with Yoke Lore (Adrian Galvin) on an off-day for his tour that's currently happening. We had the opportunity to chat with him about his history in music, his writing process, and more. Check it out!
1. How did you come to pursue music and how long have you been at it?
"I didn't make any decisions in that regard. It was more so feeling it out and going with my gut. I was always playing music and singing. I grew up in a relgious family, and my Dad sang really loudly. We did Shabbat every week and singing with my family had a big impact on me.Â
2. Could you walk us through your process of writing music?
"I wish I could tell you. It's so varied. It's something that happens of it's own accord inside of me. It's always happening. It's not a repeatable scientific process for me. Sometimes melodies pop in my head or I'll start with a drum beat. Songwriting is allowing things to happen or develop."Â
3 .What artists have inspired you in your career?
"A lot...I was just telling a friend about Roscoe Holcomb. My parents raised me on Carole King and Simon and Garfunkel. I was into hardcore music for a long time. I fell in love with Radiohead and that affected me. I've also been influenced by writers and novelists. Dune by Frank Herbert changed my life just as much as Radiohead. Tom Robbins is another author that I've written songs about. There are also directors and painters that I've derived expression from."
4. Do you have any favorite music gear (guitars, amps, effects pedals, keyboards, etc.) that you love to use? If so, what’s the story on them?
"I only play Goldtone banjos, you can quote me on that."Â
5. Can you describe the vibe at your live shows? Also, what do you enjoy most about a venue when you do a show?
"The vibe of my shows is raucous and intimate, somewhere between those two."
"What I like most about a venue is the people and the material the room is made of."
6. What is one thing that you want the public to know about your music?
"I want people to know that I gave it my all."
7. Do you have any upcoming projects you would like fans to know about?
"I am coming out with two songs later this month one's called "Bravado" and the other is called "Body Parts"."
