Confessional with Bad Saint - 11/12/18

It's Monday and that means it's time for Confessional with Bad Saint! Every week Bad Saint will be taking your musical questions, confessions, and/or settling your debates. We have a great batch of questions this week from the public. If you would like to submit a question for Bad Saint, send an email to altrevue@gmail.com. With that, let's get to your questions!

"Hey Bad Saint, I'm really trying to get into songwriting. Got any good artists that could help inspire me?" -Sarah from Syracuse Bad Saint - "Just go on ultimate-guitar and analyze the form of whoever you’re listening to now.  But Dolly Parton, CCR, Courtney Barnett, Elvis Costello, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones".

"Bad Saint,  I'm trying to hit high vocals but feel like I never go from my diaphragm got any tips to help me keep myself in check with those pesky highs?" -David from Sacramento

Bad Saint - "Learning to sing is all about locating and releasing tension.  Pay attention to where you’re holding tension, then don’t do that. When you “push” the tension stops your vocal cords from vibrating which is not the goal".

"Dear Bad Saint, Really need your help here. Transitioning from bass to rhythm guitar, but I've never picked up a six string in my life! any help would be appreciated!" -Alice from Portland Bad Saint - "Remain calm and learn a cover song! Also, I super dig Susan Palmer’s http://leadcatpress.com/WordPress/ and https://www.youtube.com/user/leadcatpress".

"Bad Saint, Is it wrong that I think that New Order is infinitely better than Joy Division? Looking for a friend" -Mark from Houston Bad Saint - "I prefer The Allman Brothers".

"Dear Bad Saint, What's your favorite type of guitar? I'm in the market for a new one and I thought I'd seek your advice!" -Jenny from Phoenix Bad Saint - "I’m a big fan of semi-hollow guitars, currently play a PRS S2 Mira and LOVE IT.  I love how the neck and the body are balanced so when you let go of the neck it doesn’t flop over. My model can switch between single coil pickups and humbuckers which works well for getting tons of different tones without pedals".
