Hi folks!

Today, I have a shoutout for all the exhausted, hard-working parents out there. I'm sure even if you don't have kiddos running around, you have heard of the hit kids' show -- Bluey. If you haven't, and I am SO not joking, go watch it. It definitely is just as good for adults as it is for kids, but I digress.

I was being a typical millennial and watching my kids' TV show Bluey and doing web searching on my phone about the show, and that is when I discovered, the voice of Dad was the lead singer of an Australian Indie Rock band entitled Custard. I had to spend some time listening, of course, and I just fell more in love with the tv show.

Here is a song I would like to highlight:

Girls Like That (Don't Go For Guys Like Us)

Girls like that don't go for guys like us

I wanna see the facts

And she says simply, "No, uh-uh"

The Julio Iglesias

He just ain't scientific

I'll keep on looking for that loving feeling

I'll keep on looking for that loving feeling

All of the chemists and witch doctors they know

(What I'll never, ever know)

Guitar

Now listen

Girls like that

Girls like that don't go for guys like us

I still wanna see the facts

But this time she's serious

She says there's too, too many worlds

Too many worlds wrapped up in science fiction

Tiny boys and tiny girls

I may well live to regret this in the morning

For I am considering a move to South America

To keep on looking for that loving feeling

I'll keep on looking for that loving feeling

All of the chemists and witch doctors they know

(What I'll never, ever know)

They know, they know, they know that loving feeling

They know the chemists and witch doctors know it

They know, they know, they know that loving feeling

That feeling

That feeling

This is just one example of the vibe of this band, which in my opinion is light-hearted and fun. I know, many times I focus on the power of music in social justice, and that is important, but there is also the importance of just having fun, and Custard is a great example of that.

"Girls Like That" points out that the nerdy crew of mates would never score with "that" girl, and that is the focus of this song. The funky guitar and fun lyrics, they got listeners grooving and also, relating to the idea.

So, even if you feel like your personality is very small, select, and unique, look at Custard to remind you that there will always be an audience looking for you to speak into the world about what they feel and know to be true, and sometimes, that is just fun, funky times with the mates.

Until next time.
